What is CBD and what is it used for?
The Brave new world of CBD.
CBD is taking over the world. You’ve probably seen tons of CBD products at your local pharmacy, health stores and indoor markets — everything from oils and balms to chocolates, sparkling water, lip ice and lollipops.
But what exactly is CBD and what does it do to the body?
Glad you asked.
Here at Apex, we’re passionate about CBD and educating the world about this amazing health supplement.
CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of many naturally occurring chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant.
It is often confused with cannabis’s more notorious compound, THC (TetraHydroCannabinol), the psychoactive compound that gets people “high”.
Although they are both cannabinoids and naturally occur together, they have different effects on the body.
CBD is not psychoactive. Even in high doses it will not alter your state of mind nor impair your mental or physical functions.
All cannabinoids interact with a network of receptors, molecules and enzymes in the human body called the ECS (Endo-Cannabinoid System). The ECS plays a role in regulating various bodily functions to create a balanced and healthy internal environment.
CBD extract is pretty versatile. It can be consumed orally in drops, foods and gummies, inhaled through smoke or vapour, and even used on the skin as an ointment.
Once consumed, CBD interacts with ECS receptors in the immune system. This boosts the immune system, creating an overall feeling of wellness. Most notably, calming the mind and reducing pain and inflammation throughout the body.
This is why CBD is gaining such a following as a safe and natural remedy for many common problems.
CBD has powerful healing effects on the mind and body.
CBD has a broad-spectrum of effects and uses. Besides for its holistic wellness benefits, it has been specifically used to aid with mental imbalances leading to:
- Improved sleep patterns
